Gavin has written co-written or edited over 20 books some of which have been translated into several languages. Perhaps his best known book (which is in its third edition) is Economics Medicine and Health Care, with Pearson Education. A recent addition is The Economics of Health Equity, edited with Di McIntyre of the University of Cape Town and published by Cambridge University Press. His most recent book, published by Oxford University Press in January 2009, is Challenging Health Economics. It does just that but also puts forward a new paradigm for health economics which is more challenging than ‘traditional’ health economics!
